FAQ

Trimlight Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I rename the Trimlight signal?

To rename the Trimlight wifi signal, start by connecting to the Trimlight wifi signal. Then, open the Trimlight app and switch the lights to manual mode. Long press on the word "Trimlight," and a window will appear with the option to rename the network. After renaming it, be sure to hard close the app, refresh your wifi networks, and connect to the new signal name.

  • How do I perform a soft reset?

To clear any error codes in your Trimlight controller without deleting saved patterns or timers, follow these steps: simply locate the white Trimlight controller and unplug it for one solid minute, then plug it back in. Alternatively, you can cut power to the white controller by pulling out the green cube next to the blue or green light for one minute, then plug it back in. This process will effectively clear any error codes without affecting your saved settings.

  • Why won't Trimlight pair into my home network?

While Trimlight is designed to connect to any 2.4gHz wifi signal, we cannot guarantee compatibility with all home networks due to various external factors. These factors may include the type of modem/router being used, firewall and security settings on the home router/modem, as well as obstacles between the Trimlight controller and the modem/router. Additionally, potential interference from other devices such as LED lights, solar panel controllers, Tesla battery chargers, and other wifi devices can impact connectivity.

If you encounter difficulties pairing your home network, we suggest contacting your internet provider for assistance, as their technicians may be able to help with pairing Trimlight to your specific modem/router setup. However, if all else fails, you can always rely on Trimlight's dedicated wifi signal (indicated by the blue light on the controller) to connect to your Trimlight system.

  • What is the "pair new device" button?

The "pair new device" button enables you to pair Trimlight with your home network. It's important to note that we cannot guarantee Trimlight will successfully connect to your home network due to various variables beyond our control, including the type of router/modem, firewall settings, potential obstacles, and interference from other devices.

  • If I unplug power to Trimlight, do I lose saved patterns/timers?

The Trimlight controller is equipped with a built-in battery, ensuring that all saved programs and timers remain intact even if the controller loses power. However, it's advisable to keep the Trimlight controller plugged in at all times, unless performing a soft reset or hard reset. This ensures uninterrupted functionality and reliable operation of the Trimlight system.

  • Why can I no longer connect to my Trimlight system?

The most frequent cause of connection issues typically stems from a power loss at the controller or a change in the controller signal triggered by a brief power outage or customer alteration. If the controller's blue light is illuminated (quick click and release STA/AP button on the controller to toggle between blue and green), you should be able to detect the Trimlight signal in your wifi network options. Similarly, if a solid green light is displayed (quick click and release STA/AP button on the controller to toggle between blue and green), you should be able to connect to the Trimlight app using your home wifi network.

  • How do I delete a pattern?

To delete a pattern, just access the Trimlight app, tap "Enter," and then select the clock icon at the bottom right. From there, you'll find a list of all existing patterns. Swipe left on the pattern you want to remove, and you'll see options to rename or delete it.

  • How do I delete a calendar event?

To delete a calendar event using the Trimlight app, first, access the app and tap on "Enter." Then, locate and select the clock icon situated at the bottom right corner. Next, scroll down to find the "Schedule" button and click on it. Choose the option to "Create a Calendar Event." Identified calendar events will be highlighted in pink. Select the month and the specific days you wish to delete. Once selected, the calendar event detail window will appear, allowing you to delete the chosen days by clicking on the delete option at the bottom.

  • How do I slow down a chasing pattern?

Initially, find the speed bar on the app and move it completely to the left. If the pattern continues to move too quickly, increase the number of diodes on each color in the color line until the desired speed is achieved for your pattern. Remember to save the adjustments after making them.

  • How do I hard close my app?

Ensuring proper functionality of the Trimlight app requires hard closing it between uses. The method for doing this varies based on your device:

    For Apple devices:

    A) Double-click the home button, then swipe up to close apps.

    B) Touch the bottom of the screen, drag your finger upward to shrink the apps, release your finger, then swipe up to close them.

For Android devices, options vary depending on your device model. Typically, you'll find an icon with three lines or dots. Tap it to access the "clear all" or "close all" option. Specific steps may differ based on your device.
